My band assessment

Remember the band i kept telling you guys about? The class we had to perform in every Tuesday? Yup, we had an assessment on Tuesday, we had to sing a wedding set, so we all had to choose songs to sing for 35minutes, and we had to wear proper attire. I'll upload a few pics and a few videos for u guys to watch :P my friend helped me videotape it , hahhaha.

This is when we were practicing. I took quietly from the back of the room :P







There are 8 guys 1 girl in my band. Without me telling, im sure u know who that girl is. Ehem..
I'm singing backing vocals (backup singer)for most of the songs, but most of the time i dono wat i was doing, when the main singer was singing i was day dreaming XD This is our classroom, a bit messy please bare with it haha. Pay attention with the saxophone player, HAHA he's hilarious! My friend only recorded some parts of it, the BETTER ones are at the middle til the end of the assessment, but she didnt record, haih.. anyway, hope u enjoy.

My first vegetarian curry

Tell u a secret, i actually LOVE shopping for groceries :P HAHAA. It makes me think of what to cook for the following days, and if i have free time, i love trying new dishes that i never cooked before. So today.. i passed by an asian grocery store, and saw packets of.. MALAYSIAN CURRY.

So i bought back a packet of vegetarian curry (cuz i feel like i'v been cooking a lot of chicken lately), and bought a quarter of a HUGE cabbage, and some long beans, and some ermm.. wat u call it, taupok. LOL. (pls excuse my dictionary, cannot find the right word to translate), and went home to cook. Oh wait! How can we forget coconut milk while cooking curry?! And yes i bought coconut milk too. And then walked home.

Cut the vege n long beans, and started cooking. Had NEVER cooked curry before in my life, but i feel that it's still a pass for a first-timer. What ya think? :D





HAHA.. well to be honest i think i added a bit too much coconut milk >_<
Oh well, it still got the curry-ish taste, so its ok HAHA.

Winery

I went to winery last saturday :D but my friend's not free to send me those pics til the coming weekend.. ARGHH!! Will update my winery post this weekend. TIL THEN!! xoxo.

Kakak

My grandma's house used to hav a maid.. forgot her name.. but she's really a good maid. I suddenly thought of her. She used to be very hardworking, and very nice, but she's gone back to her own country now. My grandma wanted to extend the contract.. but then she had to go back to her children.

The previous family she worked with treated her very badly. They made her eat stale rice. And made her work a lot, and if she's slow or watever, they wouldn't let her eat. It is really terrible to see how our own kind treat others like animals (u cant treat animals like this too) just because they come from different class in the society.
They'd scold her and not give her food.

Sometimes we would buy cakes or some food home when we visit my grandma's house, and we would offer her a slice of cake, haha.. a slice of cake would make her soooo happy and brighten her day, because.. she had never had cake before. And while she was eating it, she'd think of her kids, cuz they'd never tasted a cake before too. Sometimes even a small thing could make her really happy, and she'd appreciate what we did for her (although to us.. we'r just showing a bit of caring and sharing) but it meant a lot to her.

It's heartbreaking when she told us abt her background. Her husband left her with 2 kids.
One guy one girl. She left them to her brother (their uncle) and came all the way to Malaysia to work, and would send back the money for them, and sounded like her brother would take those money and stuff.

She had not spoken to her kids for some time.. and she missed them a lot. So my uncle gave her an old phone and a card for her to call home once in a while. Sometimes she would write letters back to her home and they'd reply. And most of the time after she finished reading the letters, she'd tear.

Once she was talking to her daughter and found out that her son left home without telling her, to find a job or something.. he was very young.. like.. 14 or 15.. and he was alone.

Sigh. Thinking abt it, i feel that i should cherish and appreciate more for what i have and wat i own now. Although i havent been really close to her, i kinda miss her..

LUNCH

I was trying to cook myself lunch today.. was excited cuz i bought minced meat.. wanted to make a dish my mom used to always make. Steamed meat with egg.

So i called my mom, asked her for instructions.. then i thought.. "well its pretty easy" and started to make it. The first mistake i did.. i forgot to defrost the meat. =_="
Nevermind. So i left it to defrost. And i started cutting vegetables, n then fried them with garlic.
Then.. i came bak to the meat... and it was still frozen.. so i thought.. Hmm.. mayb the microwave could help. So i threw it into the microwave n defrost it. And it came out.. half cooked, half raw. >_<
And it had a weird smell.

I thought.. nevermind, mayb its just me.. and i chopped them and mixed an egg into it and steamed it. "5 minutes will do" Mom told me. I thought.. ok.. since my plate's too big to fit the wok, so i'll juz use a bowl, and i think it'll take longer than 5 minutes. It looked like this. And I waited..



And waited..
10 minutes passed... and it's still raw.



And I waited..
30 minutes passed and IT"S STILL RAW!!!!




I then give up on steaming.. and i was sooo fed up, and so i dumped the meat into the pan and fried with the vege n rice.. 3 in one.. >_< and it tasted soo weird!!

After 2 hours in the kitchen... i ate half of the fried minced-meat-rice-and-vege , and threw away the rest. It was... Yuck.

My cooking skills... haihz...

Bad luck?? Or its just me?

Last night.. while i was sleeping halfway.. my bed suddenly went "BAMM!" n collapsed. >_< I jumped up and i was like.. O_O n tried to fix my bed. The wood by the sides were screwed, but the screws were loosen now, and no matter how many times I tried... the bed juz won't stay there, and kept falling. Like this...





In the middle of the night... fixing my bed (or at least i was trying to :P ) and then i decided to carry the mattress out n sleep on the floor.. the mattress was THICK n HEAVY!

Please tell me it's not me.. NOR my weight's responsiblity for this.. XP

Inspiration

Do you ever sing when u're taking your shower? Of coz u do :D haha.
I do toooo. I was taking my shower just now.. but i wasn't singing.. and there's an "idea" suddenly started singing in my brain.. OMG is this called inspiration? Cuz i'm into writing songs these days..
My lecturer told me before.. that when inspiration come, you hav to sit down and write it down, or record it.. or else when it goes away, u'll forget.

I was in the bathroom.. taking my shower.. how on earth am i going to sit down and write OR record my idea?? LOL.

He forgot to teach us wat to do when inspirations come when u'r taking shower. :P
Anyway. The song grew stronger and stronger in my head.. and i started to sing out the melody that was in my head.. never had this feeling before.. and *Poooff*, there.. a chorus with melody and lyrics, done. Then i was thinking.. is this one of the songs i've heard before and it's juz stuck in my head?? After thinking hard.. NO its not.. it's a brand new song i've never heard of.

I hurry finish my shower and then grabbed my phone and sang to it, and recorded it down.
Previously, i was writing lyrics of another song.. and then only add in the melody.
My lecturer told us when he had an inspiration abt a song, the lyrics and melody come and flow together at the same time.. and there.. a song. By then, I was thinking hard.. Ha?? How to write like that? I cant write my lyrics and melody at the same time.. die.. i hav to finish writing my lyrics first.. then only the melody will come. But now i know.. :D wat it means by INSPIRATION :D HAHAHA im sooo happy ^__^ i've juz discovered something new hehehe.
